Madi Phoenix

Madi Phoenix is a passionate teacher, director and actor who loves telling stories both on stage and screen. She completed a Bachelor of Screen Production at AFTRS in 2022 and a Diploma in Stage and Screen Performance at NIDA in 2018. Some of her notable achievements include her documentary ‘Smartphone Users Anonymous’ (2021) that she wrote, directed and starred in which won the Audience Choice Award at the Sydney Women’s International Film Festival and her short film ‘End of an Era’ (2023) that she wrote and directed which won Best Foreign Short at the Clean Shorts Film Festival in the US. Madi has also worked in theatre where she adapted and directed ‘The Pillowlady and The Playwright’ at Abbotsleigh in 2017 and directed Abbotsleigh’s senior school production of ‘Into The Woods’ in 2023. In the same year she also directed the Kings primary school production of ‘Madagascar’ the musical. Madi taught Speech, Drama and Communication Skills at Abbotsleigh from 2019-2023 and has been teaching a number of disciplines such as Theatresports, Drama, Musical Theatre and Filmmaking at Pymble Ladies College since 2022. She is currently directing the Junior Ensemble show for 2025 at Shopfront Arts Co-op.
