Come along and be part of the show!
In conjunction with our Drama Centre, each year MSTYP produces a professional season of work.
Our productions provide our young people the chance to experience working in a professional theatre environment led by industry professionals. Many of our former students have gone on to to work in the theatre industry as actors, directors, to technical, design and backstage.
On stage young people can discover their creative potential through participation in all areas of theatre – acting, directing, design, stage management and lighting operation.
Young people also assist in running the front-of-house and our mentoring program encourages young people to assist in other areas of production: stage managment, assistant directing, lighting and sound operation; as well as bring involved in front of house operations, including box office, serving refreshments and ushering, giving them the chance to develop professional skills. Over the 20+ season of performances they learn to maintain a professional attitude, discover a relationship with different audiences and develop a respect and understanding of theatre production.
We invite students (aged 12+) to audition for our productions and students from outside the MSTYP school are welcome to audition. Out cast tends to be between 12 – 18 years old.
Auditions are free for young people enrolled in the drama school, and $35 for those not enrolled. The cost of being involved in a production is free if you are cast.
