Would you like to get involved with theatre?
The Children's Theatre productions provide opportunities for young people to participate in making and presenting theatre as actors, stage managers and directors, and in roles such as lighting and sound operation, fostering their potential to develop as future professional artists. Many of these young people go on to work professionally in the arts. Our mentoring program encourages young people to assist on productions, with the aim to take on positions with a higher responsibility. Young people are involved in running Front of House operations, including serving refreshments and ushering, giving them the chance to improve their organisational and social skills, and providing employable skills.
Young people aged between 12 and 18 years mentored by industry professionals through the process of putting a production on stage for up to 26 performances, for a public audience of up to 4,500.
- Rehearsals - approximately 20 during term time (and sometimes school holidays)
- Dress and technical rehearsals
- Between 18 and 26 performances during the school holidays over 10 - 12 days
- Casts are typically between 9 and 14 actors plus stage management, technical crew and Front of House
By auditioning, that does not guarantee a place in the cast - there are always those who are not cast.
Auditions are free for young people enrolled in the drama school, and $16.50 for those not enrolled. The cost of being involved in a production is free if you are cast.
