BOARD SECRETARY
We’re looking for someone who believes young people.
For over 50 years, Marian Street Theatre for Young People has been building something rare: a space where kids don’t just perform — they discover emotional courage. The kind that helps them speak up in class, stand tall under scrutiny, and show up as themselves.
We’re a not-for-profit theatre company serving Sydney’s Upper North Shore, and we’re looking for a Board Secretary who wants to be part of that story.
What you’ll do:
Approximately 5 hours per month — supporting governance, keeping us compliant, and ensuring our board runs like a well-rehearsed ensemble. Think: meeting minutes, correspondence, record-keeping, and the quiet-but-critical work that keeps a 50-year-old organisation moving forward.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Experience (or genuine interest) in governance and non-profit operations
- A belief that the arts aren’t a luxury — they’re essential
- Ideally, you’re a Ku-ring-gai resident who wants to give back locally
What you’ll get:
Board experience that matters. A front-row seat to community impact. The satisfaction of knowing that your five hours a month help young people find their voice — sometimes for the first time.
If you’ve been waiting for the right opportunity to contribute, this might be it.

CASUAL TEACHING ARTISTS
We love to hear from experienced and reliable drama teaching artists who are interested in working with us – our door is always open!
We are especially interested in hearing from diverse Teaching Artists – including those identifying as CALD, BIPOC, LGBTIQ+, and those with a disability. We believe our teaching artists should reflect the diversity of our young people.
Trained drama teachers and actors with experience teaching young people may apply. We are seeking artists with specific experience to teach age ranges from 5-7, 7-9, 9-12 and 12 – 18 year olds. Teaching artists must be able to facilitate devised and scripted work and create their own program for a class.
Classes are held in Killara, St Ives, Turramurra, and Hornsby, as well as in a number of in-school drama locations across the Upper North Shore. Weekly classes run for 1–2 hours, and reliability and commitment to the half-yearly program are essential. Opportunities to teach more than one class per week may be available.
Holiday workshops are held during each school break and are allocated to tutors based on their availability and skill set.
Applicants must have a current Working with Children Check and First Aid Certificate. Rate of pay and further details will be emailed through on request.
Please apply with:
1) Resume
2) At least two references
3) Cover letter
4) Your first aid certificate
Please address the information to Jessie Lancaster (Creative Learning Manager) and send it to info@mstyp.org.au
