The aim of MSTYP is to promote an appreciation and love of theatre to young people of all ages through classes, direct involvement in theatre practice and through watching good theatre.
We believe that children deserve a theatre experience equal to that provided for adults.
We are passionate about creating a quality theatrical experience that is age appropriate, challenging, enjoyable and serves the emotional, artistic and educational needs of young people.
What We Do
MSTYP is a not for profit theatre organisation operating for the benefit of children and young people who wish to explore the creative theatre arts, from acting and singing, to puppetry and physical theatre, under the direction of professional theatre artists.
We create productions for children and provide drama training and theatre-making opportunities for young people from the age of three through to young adults. MSTYP is an accessible organisation which fosters young people’s creative expression and educates Australia’s future professional artists. Reflecting Sydney’s hugely multicultural status, MSTYP’s students and young performers have a diverse cultural heritage.
We provide opportunities for young people to participate in presenting and making theatre as actors, stage managers, directors and technical operators. MSTYP creates a supportive environment where young people work together towards a common goal and challenge themselves under the mentorship of theatre professionals.
Our after school and weekend classes and holiday workshops emphasize team work, creative expression, inspiration, laughter, exploration and individual discipline to achieve a personal aim or the group’s common goal in telling the stories that reflect their lives.
Our main-stage productions provide many young children with their first theatrical experience. The productions use strong storytelling, original music, puppetry and vibrant staging. Our plays range from fairy tales to modern classics and original Australian stories.
MSTYP provides vital professional work for Australian writers, composers, tutors, directors and designers.
